Any rags to riches story is basically the determination to succeed and succeed despite the odds. The story of Ahmed Khan is no different. He had a dream and the determination to make it come true. He was a small-time grocer’s son who once lived in the slums with his mother wife and two daughters. After some waiting for many years to achieve the success he now lives in a posh locality. There was a time when Automobile in the logistics sector across the country is witnessing a slump. Khan transferred from the city and placed an order for 50 trailers. This is not the first time that he has made the news. Khan was awarded by Mahindra trucks and bus controllers.
Subsequently, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad announced him as the winner in the logistics sector across the country and was also selected for success story as a case study for management studies at its Institutions across the country. Sharing his success story Khan faced numerous objections in life but never give up on his dreams. After he failed in SSC in 1994 he started driving an auto-rickshaw on rent. Within a year he purchased a new one with help from his mother who gave him 12000. Till 2001 he drove the auto but at the same time continued his big dreams. He purchased a 52 seater bus which failed to give him the desired returns. It forced him to sell the vehicle. With a never say die attitude, Khan obtained rupees 11 lakh loan in 2004 and purchased his first truck.
He worked hard by taking confinement to places like the Northeast Jammu and Kashmir where other Transporters refused to go. As a result, he built the trust of companies that gave him more business. The increase in business helped him to repay the loan two years before the deadline. The bank was impressed with the performance and gave him more loans. He is one of the most successful transporters in Central India and has played a key role in the logistics industry. He earns a 400 Crore turnover company with 250 trucks and today 75% of the Transporters from Central India fall under him. With his vehicles, he has a fleet of 3000 trucks every month to supply steel and power, and construction material across India and neighboring countries like Nepal Bhutan, and Bangladesh. Impressed with business a UK-based financial from Imperial capital offered him a loan of 80 crores.
Khan was also applauded by the central government’s move to increase gross vehicle weight for transport vehicles. In the recent past, online systems introduced in the transport department have eradicated corruption at large-scale like at the state border check-post. Khan's motivation could also be from the fact that four years ago he cleared his 10th board exam as it had stopped him from getting permission to start to fuel stations nearby the town. One must never lose the determination to rise high and the sky is not the only limit.
